“Bionic” - the new generation of intelligent office chairs

One of the main problems with seating continues to be the potential risk for chair users that adjust their chairs incorrectly. Even though seating technology is now very user-friendly, the majority of people still do not adopt a correct posture when sitting. If users do in fact adopt the wrong seated posture because a seat is incorrectly adjusted, this can result in them experiencing problems with their intervertebral discs or other musculo-skeletal injuries, leading to extremely painful impairments. Incorrectly adjusted seats are also responsible for horrendous economic losses arising from employees taking 86 million sick days a year in Germany alone. It is estimated that it may cost around one billion euros to correct or to alleviate the resulting damage caused to people’s health.

Active dynamic seated posture
The seat and backrest simultaneously follow the movements of the person sitting and, in the process, always remain
at the optimum angle. The backrest provides a pleasant counterpressure because it is matched to the user’s par ticular
body weight. The entire upper par t of the chair can be adjusted individually or automatically forwards (seat up to -12°)
or backwards (backrest up to 128°), providing additional dynamism when sitting. These technical capabilities uniquely encourages the frequent changes of posture that is considered essential by occupational health physicians.

Syncro Activ-Balance®

By activating the seat-tilt adjustment feature, the seat is lowered when necessary. No unpleasant pressure points are created on the thighs, the pelvis is imperceptibly moved into the correct position, the upper body is given the impulse to straighten itself and the cervical spine is stretched. A pleasant feeling of balance is created. If the entire upper part of the chair is released, it follows all of the user’s changes in posture and ensures that the user maintains an upright seated posture. Consequently, the user no longer sits on the chair but with the chair. Sitting becomes an active activity and provides optimum support and a feeling of relaxation. A seat-depth adjustment facility (sliding seat) is also available as an optional extra. Overall the Syncro Activ-Balance® is the ideal seat feature for large businesses where a single chair must cater for the needs of both very large and very small people.
