v.smart has been developed by focusing the best in design, technology and materials to produce a radical new concept in seating.
The patented smart mechanism inspires movement while at the same time providing active support, variety and comfort in every seated position.
v.smart automatically senses the weight of each user as they sit on the chair and instinctively provides the correct tension to work in harmony with each individual.
It then establishes the height and depth of lumbar support required and ensures the flexible back fits naturally into the curve of the spine.
v.smart conforms to all relevant UK and European performance standards, and approved by the BCFA in 2004.

Mechanism the intelligent underseat
mechanism utilises simple technology to
provide a balanced posture which follows and
supports the body’s natural movements.
It features instinctive tension control, which
automatically adjusts the tension of the chair
according to the user’s body weight.
Arms the option of stylish slim line, fixed or
adjustable arms may offer additional support to
the neck and shoulder muscular systems and
can alleviate some of the symptoms of
repetitive strain disorders.
Visitor cantilever framed visitors chairs together
with conference swivel chairs are available with
or without arms.
v.smart has been designed to comply with all
current UK and European performance
standards, including: EN 1335 - 1, EN 1335 -
2, BS EN ISO 9241 - 5:1999, BS 5459:2000
part 2 level ‘S’ and BS 5852:1990.

Ergonomics
In today’s modern world, people are gradually
being forced to spend greater periods of time
sitting down and over recent years there has
also been a dramatic increase in the frequency
and volume of back pain. Restricted physical
movement, poor posture, stress, nonergonomic
furniture and an unhealthy lifestyle
have all been cited as important factors contributing to back pain.
It has therefore become increasingly important
for employers and their personnel to assess the
job function they are undertaking. The longer a
person spends seated at their place of work,
then the greater their need for a chair that will
adapt to their own individual requirements.
Posture is maintained by the subtle balance of
pairs of muscle groups throughout the body,
working in harmony to retain any desired
stance. However any posture, good or bad,
which is sustained for prolonged periods will
lead to static muscle loads and the risk of
long term injury.
A dynamic posture is beneficial because the
muscles have the opportunity to alternate
between action and relaxation, thereby
improving the blood supply and the subsequent
transport of energy to and removal of toxins
from these important muscle groups. It is, in
part, this reduction in muscle fatigue that
results in the improvement in seating comfort.
