Capsule is a furniture range designed by Kateryna Sokolova for Casala, inspired by the form of a cocoon. The range spans three distinct families — Capsule, Capsule Lounge and Capsule Bench — each sharing the same characteristic rounded language but suited to different settings and uses. All models are fully upholstered inside and out, with zip-fastened seat and back cushions and a choice of oak leg finishes.
The original Capsule chair and sofa are the acoustic pieces in the range. The tall cocoon-shaped shell, standing 170cm high, wraps around the occupant to create a sense of privacy without complete enclosure — useful for focused work, phone calls, or simply stepping away from the noise of an open-plan office. The upholstered shell also absorbs ambient sound, which benefits the acoustics of the wider space. Available as a 1-seater (100cm wide) or 2-seater (190cm wide).
Capsule Lounge takes the same cocoon shape and halves it, producing a lower-backed, more open seat at 80cm high. The result is better suited to informal settings — reception areas, breakout spaces, or anywhere people gather rather than retreat. Available as a 1, 2 or 3-seater (100, 190 or 240cm wide), the Lounge models share the same rounded forms as the acoustic range and work well in combination with them.
Capsule Bench is the simplest piece in the family — a low upholstered bench that carries the same pill-shaped language as the wider range. It works well on its own to add flexible seating in lounge and reception areas, or grouped alongside Capsule chairs and sofas to fill out a larger arrangement. Available in two depths — a slimmer backless version and a deeper seat with an optional single backrest — and in two widths.
All Capsule models are fully upholstered inside and out. Duo upholstery in two different fabrics from the same fabric group is available at no extra cost. Six fabric collections are available: Nevada, Mizmaze, Uniform Mélange, Mylla, Planum and Regos — see the brochure download for the full colour range.
