Archie Office Pod

Archie is an arched office pod built in the West Midlands, available in 2, 4 and 6-seat layouts and specified either open to the room or closed down with a half wall, a full wall, or glass. Upholstered seating and a table come fitted as standard, and the pod runs from a single plug.

Open-plan works well until someone needs to think, or two people need ten minutes without an audience. Archie is there for that gap. It sits within the floorplate rather than replacing part of it, reduces surrounding noise by up to 32dB, and needs no building work to install.

The arch does more than set the shape. At 2150mm high it breaks up long runs of desking and gives the space some vertical rhythm, and the curve carries through to the interior — upholstered walls, a soft-edged roof and a pendant light hung at the centre rather than a flat panel overhead. The effect is a space that feels settled rather than boxed in.

Open or closed

Every size can be specified three ways, and the back wall is where that choice is made. Open leaves the pod accessible from the side. A half wall gives partial separation while keeping sightlines across the floor. A full wall closes the pod down and deepens the sense of enclosure. Each step up is a cost option.

Glass is available too — an arched glass door and a glass back wall, either from the outset or retrofitted later. Both cut noise while keeping daylight moving through the space, and the door can carry subtle manifestations so conversations and screens stay private without the pod turning opaque.

The upholstered seating and table can also be left out, leaving the arch as an open structure to furnish however the space needs. A half or full back wall is required in that case, as the wall carries the structure.

Roof sprinkler or fire alarm cut-outs to suit site requirements, are specified in the same way. Drawings are supplied against your measurements.

Upholstery, finishes and power

Archie is fully upholstered inside and out with fabrics available from the same band, and the fabric range covers the main contract mills. Render stencils are available to map exactly where each fabric sits — back rest, seat pad, back wall.

Table tops come in six standard laminates — Black, White, Stone, Anthracite, Classic Beech and Lugano Oak — or six premium scratch and fingerprint-proof finishes: White, Cashmere Grey, Stone Grey, Graphite Grey, Black and Indigo Blue. Finishes outside the published range can usually be sourced.

Power is specified to suit how the pod will be used: on-desk modules with UK sockets and USB A and C, 80mm in-desk grommet units, under-desk units, or an in-panel module set into the upholstered wall. All are available in white or black.

Materials and manufacture

Archie is made in Britain, at a 35,000 sq ft facility in the West Midlands, UK — frames machine-cut and the upholstery finished by hand. The factory is certified Made in Britain manufacturer, a member of the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme and a Real Living Wage employer.

The structure is FSC® certified MDF and birch plywood (FSC® C199985), with FSC® certified products available on request. Across the range, 96% of purchased timber is FSC® certified and around 80% of the finished furniture is recyclable. Offcuts are reused on smaller pieces or passed to licensed carriers for biomass. Solar generation at the factory saves roughly 39,140kg of CO₂ a year, and fabrics include SEAQUAL® options made from recovered marine plastic.

Pod Sizes

All sizes are available in 2200mm or 2000mm width, and 2150mm or 2050mm overall height. Seats sit at 450mm with a 420mm seat width; tables are 720mm high.
